Road Safety is a shared responsibility, and therefore multi-sectoral collaboration is needed. Road traffic accidents and casualties have multiple determinants, affect many people and sectors and require actions by different actors.
The National Road Safety Committee follows a model for collaboration based on the World Health Organization’s Road Traffic Injury Prevention Manual, which is illustrated below:
The National Road Safety Committee’s policy is to work with the various government and non-government organizations as partners in order to increase the potential for better results and maximize scarce resources. The Committee accomplishes this goal by creating coordination mechanisms chaired by the NRSC Secretariat aimed at bringing partners together to discuss strategy and policy, update on ongoing activities, and plan future interventions together.
The same model is followed at the provincial-level through the Provincial Road Safety Committee Secretariat with local-based organizations and authorities.
Since 2006, the National Road Safety Committee has collaborated with a variety of non-governmental organizations and private companies on the following initiatives:
The expansion of potential partners to collaborate with the NRSC will continue to be a top priority of the current national road safety action plan for the Committee
