RS Knowledge And Skills Improved Among School Teachers, Students, And Traffic Police

Starting from January until March 2009, Handicap International Belgium’s Road Safety Education Projectin collaboration and cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and the National Road Safety Commitee has provided trainings on Road Safety Curriculum for Lower Secondary School (Grade 7-9) to teachers, headmasters, district traffic police, provincial traffic police, and officials from Provincial Department of Education, Youth, and Sports, and Provincial Department of Public Works, and Transportation in 10 provinces/city. Totally, 3,688 participants successfully completed the training courses and received Certificates of Completion delivered by Provincial Department of Public Works and Transports.

Teaching-Learning materials, such as studentbooks, teacherbooks, traffic law and traffic sign books, ,traffic sign posters, teaching manuals, leaflet behaviors, etc… were provided to participants, schools, and other relevant departments in order to help them transfer road safety lessons to students and others roads users.

We expect that approximately 360,000 students from 841 schools and thousands of road users will have learnt road safety lessons and improved their knowledge and skills. As a result of continuing increasing knowledge and skills, there will be reduction of traffic accidents, casualties, and fatalities.
